.gov to start killing badgers....
Apparently the Government's Chief Scientific Advisor, Sir David King, has suggested a cull on badgers to stop the spread of bovine TB in cattle.

"This advice goes against the conclusions of the Government appointed Independent Scientific Group on cattle TB, published in June, after a 10 year study. Their conclusion was that while badgers are a source of bovine TB in cattle, badger culling can make no meaningful contribution to cattle TB control in Britain. The evidence was that some culling policies could make matters worse rather than better.

The badger is a protected species and a much loved symbol of British wildlife (and 303-culture). A cull could cause enormous suffering, particularly as it is possible that methods such as snaring may be used to 'remove' these beautiful creatures."

Given 303.co.uk's inherently badgery nature we're urging our readers to sign the RSPCA petition and try to stop the cull... not that the .gov gives a shit what we think anyhow but we might as well try.

See! - thin end of the wedge...

"Traffic speed cameras are not for profit, they're only for accident blackspots, honest"

Isn't that what they said when speed cameras were introduced? Any fears of cameras popping up all over the place (e.g. profit hotspots) were quelled with the pure and indeed noble notion of saving lives on accident blackspots....

well not anymore... I don't really need to say anything more since the article below says it all (but I will anyway):

"The new guidance, published by the Department for Transport, abolishes the limit and allows police to exercise discretion over where they use cameras."

The nice thing is we can rest assured it won't be the same with ID cards... oh no, not at all... they promised...entirely voluntary guv (for now).

Johannesbadger choir sings for peace
In the absence of other news, apartheid still threatens to tear the johannesbadger community apart, one figure stands tall from the rest, proud of his stripes and touting a 303 – and he's not afraid of using it.

According to Nelson Manbadger using the 303 could be the "only path to peace". Fearing a UN inspection from Kofte Anan, the Stripey council are still divided ....[cont p.94]

.gov to require
Quoted off the .gov site:

"There are a number of moves promoting the requirement of 'ID' cards to allow photographers to operate in a public place.

It is a fundamental right of a UK citizen to use a camera in a public place, indeed there is no right to privacy when in a public place.

These moves have developed from paranoia and only promote suspicion towards genuine people following their hobby or profession."

So does that include camera phones?
